Convergence across disciplines
Climate science, ecology, psychology, economics, epidemiology — all point to the same conclusion: systems are non-linear, thresholds exist, stability is temporary, control is limited. Yet institutions act as if linearity, predictability, and control were the norm.
Blindness as architecture
Refusing to see instability is not a bug. It is a feature. It allows the maintenance of structures, narratives, and power arrangements that would become untenable if instability were integrated.
Proof vs compatibility
The issue is not proof. Evidence abounds. The issue is compatibility. Integrating instability would require transforming institutions, revising expectations, accepting uncertainty. The cost of transformation appears higher than the cost of denial — until it isn't.
When denial collapses
Structural denial holds until accumulated contradictions exceed the system's capacity to absorb them. Then comes rapid reorganization — often experienced as crisis, collapse, or revolution.
